About

Kyra Kaushal is a 20-year-old multimedia painter based in Toronto, Canada currently completing her BFA in Drawing in Painting, with a minor in Experimental Animation at OCADU. 

​​Kyra has been featured in various art exhibitions in Toronto, such as Inspirations Studio's 30th Anniversary Fundraiser, Tarragon Theatre’s ‘Craze’ group exhibition and Humber Polytechnic’s ‘New Vistas’ in Etobicoke. She has recently taken her work internationally, to Germany with ‘Interwoven’, a travelling exhibition raising awareness for organ donors and donations. 


Kyra is interested in exploring the human condition, raw emotion, and paying homage to the human form in her works. Working intuitively, she manipulates the face and form as she sees fit, often working with bold, vivid colour palettes. Thematically her work tends to circle raw emotion, expressionist-influence, her North-Indian background,  addiction, abuse, love, sexuality, sensuality, relationships, and body image. 

While she considers herself an expressionist, her work is in an experimental phase as she explores paint, animation, XR, and written works. Kyra’s favourite mediums are currently acrylic paint and ink on large, unprimed canvas and digital illustration on Procreate.
